Our goal for our lodging was to provide comfort with a decidedly Western flavor. Rustic cabins are duplex style; each unit has a private bath, queen bed, pedestal fireplace and a terrific view. Each unit displays distinctive art work by a Western artist, i.e. the Frederic Remington room or the Charlie Russell room. There is a sun porch that runs the full length of the cabin with plenty of chairs for “settin’ a spell.” Bed and Breakfast guests will be served a hearty morning meal that is included in the lodging costs. Those who wish to stay longer can sample our “campfire cuisine.”
“Set” a spell on your front porch.
From your chair on the front porch you will be able to see Fremont National Forest, rim rocks and meadows. What you won’t see is gridlock, smog, hoards of people, the crush of urban life. You’ll hear the sigh of wind in the eaves, the call of a momma cow, the cry of a sparrow hawk.
Hand-made quilts add to the charm.
Notice the lantern AND the electric lamp? Willow Springs is a Guest Ranch that provides “home-grown” electricity in the form of solar, wind and generator power. Electricity is provided for a time each evening, after which guests may use lanterns if they wish to stay up after lights out. It is a unique lifestyle that is simple, yet comfortable and is able to provide creature comforts along with a taste of pioneer living. We will be happy to acquaint you with this basic system of energy during your stay.
End of the trail.
Because Willow Springs Ranch operates on self-generated electricity, we had to find a unique hot tub for our guests. We found a wood-fired model, made of cedar and we placed it on an outcropping overlooking the lower meadows. At night, with our spectacular sunsets, it is a real treat to let the warm waters soothe while watching the stars come out.
There is something about food prepared over an open fire. We combine flame-broiled entrees with Dutch oven cooking for a real “taste” of pioneer fare. Dutch ovens served the early settlers who traveled across the United States to find a new way of life. The black pot combines history and culinary excellence to provide meals with a true Western flavor. The campfire is also the hub of evening get-togethers. Nothing is more satisfying than idle chatter shared across the flames.
